Is a plan for your life necessary? I had a plan for my life to get married after Mike finished school, to finish my degree, be married for 5 years before we had kids, and to live in places all over the globe. However, my life so far has had so many
unplanned blessings. Lets take a look at two examples:
- Mike and I got married before his senior year at Cal Poly, and I moved down to San Luis Obispo with him. I met some amazing people, made some great friends, and God changed my life forever through Mercy church. That never would have happened if things went according to my plan.
- After 2 years of marriage, getting my degree was interrupted by the birth of our beautiful daughter Dayvanee and 2 years later a studly little boy, Asher (mind you, both were born before my 5 year plan). I now have a delightful, energetic little girl keeping me busy all day long, and a sweet cuddly boy. If I would have finished my degree I would be at work rather than getting to stay home and be with my wonderful kiddos.
Now, I know I have so much of my life ahead of me, and I can guarantee that I will make plans for my life. However, I will also plan on those plans to be shaken up, moved and changed around. Because wheres the fun having your life planned out?? Not only is there fun in not knowing, but it also forces me to rely on my Savior and to put my trust in him. He puts obstacles and challenges in our path to remind us to put our faith and trust in Him. He is all knowing, all powerful and He is the one with the plans, He just lets us think we are.
Do not worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow worry about itself. Living faithfully is a large enough task for today. Matthew 6:34
